We intend to focus our attention on the marine environment as each partner school has a coastal location. Our students will be involved in research on the natural environment and marine territory, in order to deepen their understanding of this vital resource. Through the study of these ecosystems, we endeavour to foster a more profound understanding on scientific, historic and geographical levels. Using a holistic thematic approach, it is our belief that the children’s studies will lead them to a greater awareness of the importance of sea ports in creating a network for exchanging commodities, ideas, traditions and culture in general. We believe that our proposed project will heighten the children’s awareness of the delicate relationship between man and the marine environment. We also endeavour to promote responsible citizenship. The learning activities, in which the children will participate, are designed to engage students and to give them an active role in the learning process.
